As weird as it might sound, we produce earwax as a way of keeping our ears clean!

Earwax is made deep inside the ear, and gradually makes its way outwards, bringing along dead skin cells, dust and other small things that might damage our eardrum. I’ve heard it might also have anti-microbial properties that help it to stop germs getting into our ears!

This is why it’s usually good to have earwax, but some people can produce too much, which can lead to hearing problems if it all gets stuck!
