      Paralysation happens when people damage a part of their nervous system, often their spinal cord.

      The nervous system is a long series of connected nerve tissue that passes messages from our brain telling our muscles to move, but if there is a problem along the way and the message can’t be passed along, then the muscles won’t be able to react.
