• Question: why do earthquakes happen?

      The surface of the earth isn’t one continuous layer like the peel on a orange.

      Instead the surface is a number of pieces that join together – they are also moving very slowly. When the edges of two pieces push together too much they bump into each other and cause an earthquakes close by.
