• Question: why do chickens lay eggs

      Chickens are interesting because they will lay eggs almost daily, even if they haven’t been fertilised by a male (to be honest, I don’t know why this is!). They will continue to lay eggs until they are nesting a clutch, which is about 12 eggs. If you remove the eggs before they reach 12, they will just keep laying them – which is why we can rely on chickens laying lots of eggs for us!
