• Question: when you put a straw in a cup of water why does the straw look like it is bent, when you look at it, not from a birds eye view

This illusion is caused by the refraction of light!

Refraction is the bending of light when it passes between objects of different densities, such as air and water. When the light hits the glass of water at an angle, it changes the speed at which it is travelling and also changes direction, making the straw look like it is going in a different direction!
