Part of my interest came from watching birds fly in formation!
Big birds like geese will fly in V-shape formations when migrating, and we think they do this so they can save energy by flying in the aerodynamic “wake” of other birds – like when a small boat rides over the waves left behind a big boat.
Other birds like starlings will fly in great swarms called murmurations, which are amazing to watch – I recommend looking them up and watching for yourself!
It’s things like these that really got me interested in bird flight!
