      Great thought! …in theory…

Lots of things find their way into sewers that shouldn’t be there and these things can cause blockages. we could find a way of diverting these thing yes – maybe by putting a filter before your houses pipes join the main sewer pipes – the problem with this is
1.) some things are meant to be there and can be bigger than thing that are not e.g. poo vs. cotton buds – cotton buds do not break down in the sewer and can fit through many filters…. if you ever find a cotton bud on a beach then it has probably managed to get from your toilet through the sewer, through the treatment plant and into the rivers/ocean… this in not an uncommon thing… gross hey!?

2.) If you put a filter at the entry point to the sewer then someone has to clean it….. The more filters you have in your system the more work has to be done and the more places things could go wrong…
